What chickens think of snow
I'm heading inside to the day quarters.
Isn't it gone yet?
Muffin (r) and Bran(l) waiting for the coast to clear.
Snow is for eating off the side of the chicken barn.
Yesterday at the first sign of snow, the chickens headed into their daytime hutch. (That's a muddy tarp in front.) They're spending today inside their snow-covered chicken barn. Normally they'd spend some time outside but 26 degrees F is too cold for us all. Snow in November simply isn't supposed to happen around here.
Really weird for the NW, huh. We went to a weather 'pow wow', with people who know about these things. We are supposed to have 6 snow events at lower elevations this winter. That was #1...5 more to go. It will be fun to see if they know what they are talking about...haha
Poor chickens, that much cold weather makes me cranky too. I don't mind the snow so much as the freezing temperatures. If it could snow while being above zero that would be lovely. I hope it warms up for us all very soon.
We hope the temps warm and the snow disappears so that the chickens will be much happier!
ReplyDeleteMiro and Alanis must be happy with the snow though, right?
Love ya lots

Oh dear those chickens look a little cranky. Hopefully if will melt soon or you might need to get out there with the hairdryer and melt it for them.

I really hate snow. Stems from really hating extreme cold. I can deal with heat any day better than cold.

ReplyDeleteOh the poor chickens. They look as if they could do with some nice little booties to keep their toesies warm.

Smart chickens. We would probably choose to stay inside, too! :)
