She was CH Terrydale HK No Doubt

The veterinarian explained the panting that is so characteristic of lymphoma. As the white blood cells multiply and the red cells die, the dog has increasing difficulty getting air in her lungs. Also Prednisone can cause panting. By this morning, Alanis was very anemic and was showing signs of the jaundice that would indicate the disease attacking her liver. In such cases, a dog can be given a blood transfusion; but neither the vet nor I saw anything good in putting Alanis through that procedure merely in order to gain a few more days.

So she's gone.

She was a very ladylike Airedale, like someone schooled in manners and deportment.

She disliked being on the grooming table and would give me mournful looks, as if to say, "I have put in my time at this; I'm supposed to be retired."

She hung out with Miro when he was little. As he got older, I think she found him too much of a heathen.

  2. Oh no. I just read your other post first. We are so, so sorry about Alanis. You are in our thoughts and I hope you find solace in knowing that you gave Alanis the best life possible, and that you gave her the most selfless gift a pet owner can give their animal.

  5. Sherry,
My heart is so heavy for you right now. At this raw point of the grieving process, words are of little comfort. I have always taken comfort in what the Psalmist said in Psalm 36:6 "You preserve both man and beast." There it is...all the words we need. You WILL see Alanis again in heaven. Only her physical body is gone. But Alanis lives on with the Creator of the Universe. Be kind and gentle with yourself throughout this grieving process. Loss takes time to get over. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  18. I'm so sorry to here about Alanis. I loved reading about her and Miro's antics. It's horrible losing a furbaby. Saying prayers from one of Miro's dirty dozen brother's parents, Brad and Jen in NY.

  20. Sherry, I am so sorry to hear about Alanis. My heart breaks for you. It is so hard to let one go, but even harder to see them ill. She was a beautiful girl.

Our dear Harry has lymphoma. He has been on prednisone for 4 months. We just took him to the vet yesterday to get blood work and we are so hoping for a remission.
