Why would a mattress be named Airedale?

A friend went mattress hunting the other day and found this.

"Airedale Luxury Firm

SKU# 571719

The Airedale Luxury Firm is a Stearns and Foster mattress known for its cushy-yet-firm feeling. This comfortable mattress includes temperature regulation, thanks to its silk-infused, luxurious cover. It features PrimaSense Gel-Memory foam support with added high density foams. With a firm feel and plenty of support, this Stearns and Foster mattress is a great choice for sleepers looking for a nice blend of soft and firm support."

We'd like to have our own mattresses.

  1. Because "air" suggests floating and "dale" suggests a pastoral setting with countable sheep in it.

Also, there is a brand of mattress called "Aireloom." (The things you can find out in a few seconds in this wonderful age of the Internet.)

  2. Imagine my reaction when I found that "Philosophy" is the name of a line of skin-care products.

  3. I think we would like that mattress. It's got to be better than our current Tempurpedic mattress. We burst into flames nightly....dang, it is so warm.
