How much Airedale is that?

Not much. Thirty years of Airedales and I'm still very inefficient at stripping them.

Last two weeks before the Airedale quilt raffle

Below is a picture of the 2011 Airedale Rescue drool-worthy quilt. Today I went to the  Airedale Quilting Bee website to snag some raffle tickets.

The Bee began in 1999, inspired by the success of the fundraising book Houses Full of Laughter (with yrs truly as editor). Since then, clever and talented quilters have worked together every year to make and raffle off a quilt, raising over $125,000 over that time. I hope you'll go here to donate for a chance at this year's quilt and, best of all, to help Airedales in need of forever homes. 

Here's what the site says: "The Airedale Quilting Bee creates beautiful art quilts and then has an on-line fundraising campaign for donations to the Airedale Terrier Club of America's Rescue Committee. This committee oversees all funds donated to rescue and helps regional and state Airedale rescue groups defray the costs of rescuing countless aged, injured, neglected and newborn Airedales Terriers."

A puddle of puppies

I spent a few days on Vancouver Island, BC visiting Joanne Helm and her beautiful Indus Kennels Airedales. Mary Quite Contrary had puppies the week before and here they are all piled up. Like Alanis, Mary is a Terrydale girl from North Carolina. Mary arrived when Alanis was still living at Indus and Joanne says the two girls went off together in a corner to touch noses just like a couple of people exchanging gossip from home. Like Alanis, Mary is a beautiful, elegant bitch. She wasn't super happy about this stranger coming in to look at her puppies, so she woofed at me every time she saw me, not the Airedale BigBadBark but a little warning to behave myself.

Joanne is very happy about this litter and told me about quality necks, heads and shoulders but I can barely discern one from another in that pile. When their eyes open and they start playing on baby agility slides and climbers, then they'll really be fun. Go to the Indus website for photos of Mary and gorgeous Gabriel, the sire.
